The basic premise of the card game is to be given cards totaling up to twenty-one. Each player is assigned two cards. When a gambler is handed a 9 or less and an Ace they have been handed a soft hand. When the gambler is dealt no Ace it is known as a hard hand. Once the cards have been dealt every player at the table, which includes the dealer, every black jack player is given the opportunity to make one of six actions:
Taking another card (Hit): When a player says hit me the dealer will give them another card, if the addition of that card makes the total greater than twenty-one the black jack player will have lost and that is the end of the game, if the card pushes the value of the hand to twenty one the gambler wins and if the total has not yet reached 21 they are still in the game.
Keeping the hand you have been given: If a blackjack player is happy with the hand they’ll stand. As soon as this has happened the dealer will show their hand and the gambler who has gotten 21 or the nearest to twenty one will acquire a win.
Doubling Down: A player may request to double down which doubles the wager they have placed. As soon as you have taken this procedure you can only be given one additional card. The details of doubling down are usually out lined by the table or betting house rules so prior to betting be sure you’re comfortable with the house rules. If you are betting at a web-based betting house this is normally very easy.
